Learning to Listen to Your Body
After teaching for 20 years, this course represents what I wish students knew before starting yoga. What I wish they knew is that the purpose of yoga is to learn to listen to your body. That's where mindfulness comes in. Whether you are new to yoga or jumped into yoga without the benefit of a structured introductory class, I hope you will find the following course helpful.
While I highly recommend you take an introduction to yoga course from a qualified instructor, I also know this might not be possible for a variety of reasons. This course is for anyone who is interested in starting a yoga practice, or reviewing the basics, but doesn't know where to start. You may be overwhelmed by the selection of books and videos available, often with the pace of instruction in the videos moving too fast or assuming you already know the postures. You may be interested in yoga but are intimidated at the thought of walking into your first public class due to body image issues or physical limitations. Maybe you just don't have access to an in-person teacher. This course is for you!
In this course you'll learn:
*Some common names and poses you're likely to encounter in a beginning class or video, so when they come up you'll know what to do!
*What it should feel like and how to avoid injury.
*Ways to modify for common physical limitations (hint: your pose does not need to look like the instructor’s in order to benefit!)
Three Video Bundle for $35 includes two hours of detailed instruction.
After you purchase the bundle, you will receive digital downloads for the three videos. (I personally found that the digital downloads went much more smoothly using Chrome rather than Safari as my browser. Also, if you don't see the email with the download links in your in-box, check your Promotions folder.) I realize video files are large to download and that might make it hard to access on the device that is easiest for you. I want this to be easy and accessible for you, so the information that comes with the course will include links of the videos so you can also stream them from Vimeo.
The videos come with written instructions on how to use the course and exactly what to expect, so that you can get the most out of each session. There is also follow-up information provided with suggestions for next steps after completing the course.
Video 1–How to stand on your feet: Posture, alignment and breathing, it matters! Includes commonly used yoga anatomy concepts.
Video 2–Forward folding and moving your head below your heart. Includes considerations for general stiffness and back issues.
Video 3–Downward facing dog and upward facing dog. Includes considerations (and options) for bearing weight in the hands and arms.
A satisfied customer says, "I really wish I had been introduced to yoga this way. It would have been a much more positive experience and I would have a better understanding of the poses because my body would know what it 'should' be feeling."~K
21 Days to Mindful Walking
A self-paced digital course for $35
Let a simple activity like walking be an invitation to peace and introspection.
What if the everyday act of walking could be more than just getting from one place to another? What if the everyday act of walking could bring more peace and joy to your life?
Walking is a great way to get fresh air and exercise, catch-up with a friend, listen to a podcast, or think through a problem. With a little structure it can also be a great way to begin a mindfulness practice. Whether you are new to mindfulness activity or an experienced meditator, this course will give you tools and practices to get the most out of the simple act of walking, at any pace and in any setting you choose.
This course consists of seven mindfulness techniques presented over 21 lessons. Each technique will be addressed over the course of three sessions. The first session consists of a written lesson that will introduce the technique. The second session is a written lesson that expands on that technique. The third session for each technique has an audio recording that you can download onto your smart phone and use like a guided meditation on your mindfulness walk. The techniques build on each other and culminate in a traditional Buddhist walking meditation.
Topics build on each other and include:
1 Noticing your surroundings
2 Sensory awareness
3 Gratitude
4 Mindful phrases
5 Mindfulness of breath
6 Open awareness/connection
7 Walking meditation
With the purchase of this digital course, you will receive one written document and seven audio download files.

Finding Joy in Everyday Life Course Recordings: $20
In one hour and 10 minutes, this workshop will introduce the ways in which present moment awareness can teach us to find joy in our daily lives. I chose a virtual format on purpose so you can practice these everyday mindfulness techniques in your everyday setting.
Here's what to expect:
This workshop will address the differences between happiness, gratitude, and joy, as well as explore why cultivating joy is important to our wellbeing. You’ll recall the big life changing events and small everyday experiences that bring you joy. Then I’ll guide you through steps to intentionally incorporate more joy into your everyday life.
Be prepared to be led through brief mindfulness practices and experience being present with all of your senses. For this workshop you will need:
*A journal and pen or some method to put your thoughts into words.
*We will do a short mindful eating exercise, so you will need a small bite of something to eat. A single item like a berry, a nut, or a chocolate chip would be perfect.
